The
Legend of Zelda - Oracle of Seasons
Release Date: May 14, 2001
Platform: Game Boy Color
Review: The continuation between Seasons
and Ages is a very good idea, however the two stories are
much too similar in my opinion. Now, to begin with, I am not much
of a Game Boy games liking person, because there are almost no
games that are really that great. And I must say that seasons
pretty much goes into the same category. It is better than your
average Game Boy game, but not your average Zelda game.
There were some pretty good parts, and the beginning is
quite exiting, but more or less, from there it goes down hill.
The idea of switching seasons
is ok, but it doesn't really cause you to think very much; either
you automatically know what season to make it (ie: there's
some water and I need to get to the other side...Let's make
it winter), or you just switch seasons until something happens.
One thing that is quite disappointing
(this goes for almost any Game Boy game) is that you read the
instruction booklet and all the characters look very exciting
and you want to meet them and everything, but obviously
Game Boy can't display such detail, so everybody pretty much looks
the same. I know it's kinda stupid of me for that to bother
me, but it would really be nice to see a game like this
on GCN or something.
